Elevence (AKA Anthem) in hot water with CMS

Elevence (AKA Anthem) in hot water with CMS

Anthem is being sanctioned by CMS (Center for Medicaid & Medicare Services) at the end of the month, March 31, 2026, if they do not submit data corrections for nearly 7 years. That is a BIG DEAL, and presumably a ton of data to produce in 30 days. CMS claims that Elevance failed to submit data corrections that CMS identified as unsupported by Medicare record documentation as far back as November 28, 2018 and as recently as October 25, 2025. There are quick deadlines for Elevenace to respond or request a hearing that are within this month or else the sanctions go into place: ceasing enrollments and prohibiting communication with Medicare beneficiaries.

A very good synopsis of this development, which is summarized above, can be found here: https://www.healthcarefinancenews.com/news/cms-freezes-enrollment-elevance-medicare-advantage-part-d-plans
